Many of my fondest memories are of Chicago. One was the jazz festival in Grant park in about 1980. We saw Sun Ra and his Kosmic Light Arkestra, dressed in bizarre multi-colored costumes. This was followed by the, cool, elegant, and suave Joe Williams, who took the stage in a charcoal gray suit. After the first number, he opened the jacket to reveal a purple silk lining and said "Take that, Sun Ra."
